UMJ FT Students Pass the Jakarta Architecture Exhibition

Student of the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (FT UMJ ), Agus Erlangga, successfully passed the Exposeum architecture exhibition: Looking at Jakarta in the Future. This exhibition will be held at the Pos Bloc Jakarta Philately Building, Monday (02/10/2023).

The exposium architecture exhibition is a forum for universities, especially architecture study programs, to attract public interest. The 7 universities (PT) in Jakarta that participated were Tarumanegara University, Bina Nusantara University, Indonesian Christian University, Krisnadwipayana University, Muhammadiyah University Jakarta, Budi Luhur University, and University of Indonesia.

On this occasion, Agus presented a work entitled Vertical Village with the Concept of Behavioral Architecture in Cilincing, North Jakarta, which was supervised by Dr. Ari Widyati Purwantiasning, ST., MATRP "At first I was surprised because my final assignment was registered by the final assignment coordinator lecturer to take part in the exhibition. "But after knowing the information clearly, thank God, I was very happy and proud because my work passed the curation," said Agus.

Responding to this, final project coordinator lecturer for the Architecture Study Program, Yeptadian Sari, ST., MT., said that one of the exhibition creators, Samitrayasa, asked him to send student works related to Jakarta and the future of the city. According to Yepta, Agus's work was chosen because the theme was appropriate and able to answer the problem of village density in Jakarta for the future.

Agus also explained his reasons for choosing vertical villages as his final project because the conditions in small villages in urban areas were increasingly congested. Dense residential areas mean that green open space is reduced and empty land is limited.

"As for selecting the behavioral architectural concept, it is hoped that the vertical village that I designed will maintain the culture and conditions of what was previously a horizontal urban village into a vertical village," added Agus.

The Exposeum architectural exhibition is a collaboration between the Smile Museum and Mbloc Design Week which aims to create an appreciation space for young architects participating in the development of architectural aesthetic paradigms. Agus hopes that the architecture exhibition can be an inspiration for students to continue developing their work and innovation.
