Supporting Palestine, LPP AIK UMJ Holds Science Integration Study
The humanitarian crisis that befell Palestine prompted Muhammadiyah to issue a statement of support for Palestine. In order to support Palestinian independence, the Institute for the Study and Application of Al Islam and Muhammadiyah, Jakarta Muhammadiyah University (LPP AIK U MJ) held a Science Integration Study at the At-Taqwa Mosque, Friday (27/10/2023).
This study, which carries the theme Muhammadiyah's Views in Addressing Humanitarian Issues and Palestinian Independence, presents UMJ Postgraduate lecturer Dr. H. Muhammad Hidayat Nur Wahid, Lc., MA., and Drs. Bunyan Saptono, MA.
Responding to the attitude of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership in supporting Palestine, Hidayat Nur Wahid explained that this attitude showed that Muhammadiyah was continuing the rational interpretation as KH. Ahmad Dahlan interpreting QS Al-Ma'un and teaching it to his students.
According to him, Muhammadiyah uses the Koran and Sunnah as its operational, ideological and action base in responding to everything. NU also issued a fatwa requiring Muslims to defend Palestine.
Therefore, Hidayat invited the congregation to never forget history (red coats), but also green coats, namely never to eliminate the services of the ulama. One of the scholars whose services contributed to supporting Palestinian independence.
The cleric is a Muhammadiyah figure, namely KH. Abdul Kahar Muzakir. "When he was a student in Cairo he was very familiar with the struggle of Arab nations for independence, including Palestine. He participated in an international conference representing mass organizations in Indonesia. "So the historical roots are very strong," he said.
Hidayat also appreciated Muhammadiyah's rational interpretation in supporting Palestine by providing aid worth 32 billion. According to him, this is exactly what KH taught. Ahmad Dahlan. Apart from assistance in the form of material, Hidayat explained that support can also be provided by broadcasting to world citizens that Israel is an invader.
“They were so extraordinary in finishing off Gaza. Israel also carries out actions that are not in accordance with academic principles. They hire buzzers to distort facts and truth. This is part of their strategy to poison intellectualism. "From an opinion perspective, we must be part of the effort to fight it," stressed Hidayat.
On social media, Hamas is branded as a cruel and inhumane terrorist. However, according to Hidayat, this issue was refuted by testimony from former Hamas prisoners who admitted that they received very good and humane treatment. The lies that Israel broadcasts via buzzers on social media cannot in fact be proven.
In line with what Hidayat Nur Wahid said, Drs. Bunyan Saptono, MA., who appealed to the academic community to participate in campaigning support for Palestine via social media. "Please make it viral that Hamas launched the attack because of Israel's long occupation," he said.
Bunyan explained that Muhammadiyah's stance in responding to the Palestinian-Israeli war was based on the guidance of the holy books of the Koran and Sunnah. “Muhammadiyah is a da'wah movement for good and evil. "What is happening in Palestine right now is evil and has gone beyond the limits," he said.
Furthermore, Bunyan reviewed this issue from the perspective of international law and emphasized that Israel had committed international crimes which had an impact on long-term colonialism. Israel's actions range from unarmed aggregation, armed aggregation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, to apartheid politics.
Bunyan emphasized three things in addressing the humanitarian issue in Palestine. “First, we defend Palestine because of the cruel colonialism. Second, the mandate from the constitution that we are anti-colonial. "Third, we must remember our debt of gratitude, Palestine was the first country to recognize Indonesia's independence," he said.
Concluding the study, the congregation prayed together for the safety of the Palestinian people. This study also provides an opportunity for the academic community to channel assistance in the form of donations through Lazismu. The Science Integration Study is a routine program of LPP AIK UMJ which is held once a month with resource persons who have expertise in accordance with the field of science on the issues raised.
