UMJ Becomes the First Team to Qualify for the Quarter-Finals of the U-23 Menpora Cup

 The UMJ Football Association team succeeded in becoming the first team to advance to the quarter-finals of the U-23 Menpora Cup after defeating STIE Hidayatullah Depok with a convincing score of 8-1 in the match which was held at the UMJ Football Stadium, Saturday (21/10/23).

UMJ immediately appeared impressive from the first half by taking the initiative to attack and dominating possession of the ball until they managed to score five goals in the first half. Meanwhile, Hidayatullah's STIE team was unable to create any dangerous opportunities until the first half ended.

Entering the second half, UMJ was still the team that controlled the game and managed to increase their lead by three goals. Left behind by eight goals, the STIE Hidayatullah team tried to respond. They are trying to launch attacks to reduce the goal deficit. However, they only managed to score one goal until the final whistle of the second half sounded.

UMJ's eight goals in this match were scored by Muksin (3 and 6 minutes), Garnis Putra and Raja Haekal through penalty execution (5 and 25 minutes), Herjun Harja (38 minutes), Muhammad Fhadzri (42 minutes), and two other goals as well. scored by Raja Haekal (Minutes 15 and 65).

UMJ Assistant Coach Achmad Baihaqi, SM, revealed that the final score is not a measure of the success of the UMJ team. According to him, the team's game must be improved and improved to be able to achieve the desired targets.

“We from the coaching team don't look at the results of the match, but the progress of the players. "Because there is still a lot of homework that needs to be done for the team's needs on the field, we hope that each individual can develop further," said Baihaqi when met after the match.

Not only that, UMJ Muksin players hope that by qualifying the team for the quarter-finals and performing well, they can increase their sense of optimism in winning the U-23 Menpora Cup.

"It was quite a good match, we hope to achieve our target of winning the Menpora Cup," explained Muksin.

There were eight teams that qualified for the Round of 16 of the U-23 Menpora Cup, namely Muhammadiyah University Jakarta, STIE Hidayatullah, Budi Luhur University, Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung, Pamulang University, Pelita Bangsa, STAI Attaqwa, and Indonesian Christian University (UKI).
