UNAIR Students Win 7th ICONZ Best Paper at UMJ
UNAIR students who won first place in the 7th Best Paper International Conference of Zakat (ICONZ) in the KH Hall. A Azhar Basyir, Scholar Building, Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) , Wednesday (8/11/2023). The role of zakat which has enormous potential to improve the economy, especially the global economy, is the theme discussed.
The paper is entitled Zakat and Human Development Index: An Analysis of Five Priority Distribution Sectors . This paper beat two other papers, namely the second place paper from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta entitled Intergenerational Analysis of Waqf Crowdfunding Behavior: Case in Indonesia, and the third place paper from STEI SEBI entitled An Analysis of the Future Implementation Productive Zakat Model: A Systematic Literature Review Using PRISMA .
Furthermore, Annisa expressed her hope from the paper that it would be possible to realize that the benefits of zakat could improve the economy, health and education, as well as alleviate poverty. "Of course our other goal is to help the economy of mustahik who are not as fortunate as us," he said.
Annisa said that she and her friends took part in the activities initiated by the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), starting from coursework which was eventually developed and guided by the lecturer, Tika Widiastuti. "We have been working on writing since June but we found out about ICONZ and the UMJ. "Then, we just started chasing to finish it and guided by the lecturers, we finally won," said Annisa.
On the other hand, Nikmatul gave tips for writing a good paper, such as having the courage to start, doing what you can, and if you have an idea, write it down straight away. "Oh yes, don't write alone because if we write alone we will definitely only have one perspective. "If we collaborate with friends, collaborate with lecturers, we can get guidance, we will definitely take many perspectives and the results could be better," he added.
Ega, Annisa, and Nikmatul were impressed when they first came to UMJ and were happy with the facilities provided such as the building, food, and environment. “This is the first time I've come to UMJ. The food and snacks are delicious, the porridge too. "It's not hot here, the room is cool and comfortable, so it's a pleasure to take part in the event," said Ega.
Dean of FAI Dr. Sopa, M.Ag, supports ICONZ activities and will give the best for this activity. "We really support this activity (7th ICONZ) and will carry it out as well as possible. "We hope that this activity can run well, be successful and make both parties happy," stressed Sopa.
UMJ hosted the 7th ICONZ by collaborating with the Zakat and Waqf Management study program of the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) with the theme Bridges to Economic Prosperity: Zakat's Role in Diving Inclusive and Sustainable Transformation . The forms of activities are in the form of seminars, collaborations, scientific competencies, expos and gala dinners which involve various stakeholders from institutions/ministries, zakat institution practitioners, academics from various universities at the international level and the general public.
